Riding off the Xmas Calories

Fantastic to get out of the house after all the holiday cooking and eating. Not to mention the eggnog with the added spice.

This beautiful sunrise would make anyone want to jump out of bed.

Wow - no filter required

The wildlife scenery is just like living in a Christmas card

Mother nature keeping us entertained on the drive
6 Doos, 2 Yamahas and 2 Polaris sleds with riders met at Opax and set off riding to the south. Stopped for a bit of lake play and chatting and then crossed over the highway to the north side where the snow was better.

Lake stop always includes social time

The sleds seem to be getting bigger!
OOPsy

Not quite enough snow to carve - it settled since last time we played on it

Tee"Pee" Lake is well named - WET

Monitoring the weather for our next ride. Hoping to see our new members come out for some fun. It's always great to ride with a group. We all help each other and everyone gets to where we're going.

Tortoise, Thuya, Taj Ride

The 3 T's ride, first stop Tortoise Lake, then past Thuya Lakes and on to the Taj Mahal. 11 riders with the president from the Kamloops Club joining our group and a couple more new club members.
First time into the Taj this season. Snow conditions were pretty good.

Compared to town, it's a winter wonderland

This is it - the Taj Mahal
A little rest stop after roaring around in a slash

Lunch in the sun again - starting to become a habit

A much warmer day than last year when we rode into the Taj Mahal and almost froze our eyeballs off. But also not as much snow to play in.  Maybe February will bring us more.

Weekend Ride to the "Taj"

A chilly start but can't complain when it's a bluebird day.
Hadn't been to the "Taj Mahal" in years due to logging activity so we were overdue. Hoping we could still find our way in.

Most snow in years

Like water skiing, difficult to stay dry

Doo-lightful snow

Crushing snowflakes

Grasshopper, is that you in the snow swirl?

Looks like the trail in...

"THIS is the Taj Mahal" - not exactly up to expectations!!!

Saving gas - oh, not necessary, it's an e-tec

Waiting for the "trail boss"

Minor delay on the hill
Now that the trail is set, we're hoping to get back in there again this season ....if logging roads aren't plowed. Seized the opportunity. Long day but the trail boss was happy :)

Plan A, Plan B, No plan

Woke up expecting the ride to be cancelled due to cold temperatures. Our Prez used reverse psychology and sent us an email saying "cancel if you want" but it's supposed to warm up to -8 in the afternoon.

Hopeful that the weather forecasters are right.
We had plans to ride into the "Taj"but the Thuya Lake Road had been plowed. Okay, off we go to Blowdown Road - plowed too. Those *%#@* loggers took our snow away from that one too!!
Let's just go and find some snow.

Found lots of snow, logging roads and slashes to play in.

Enough snow to ride right over most anything

Family fun

We got in, we have to get out.

Fashionable rider - all coordinated.
Glad our enthusiastic president convinced us that we couldn't pass up on this day. Everyone had a great time and made good use of the extra daylight in the evening.

1st Ride of 2018

The Club had to cancel our traditional New Year's day ride due to cold temperatures, but finally a break in the cold snap allowing us to get out there.

Full moon morning and clear skies.

Where were all the new riders? Only 6 "old" riders showed up.

Someone got a new ride. Goodbye kitty cat - hello Polaris!
We had planned to ride north to Hager Mountain and area but the road had been freshly plowed. That's what happens when you're riding midweek.
So off we went to Thuya Lakes area exploring all the logging roads out that way. Good easy ride to start the year. If it was so easy, why do I have a few sore muscles today!!!

Perfect blue bird day. Aren't we lucky to live in the Cariboo and experience this.
This is where our trail to Patrick Lake should be. Need more snow and the trees are sure getting in the way.

Creating a turn around in the overgrown road.

Now that we have gotten the skis back in the powder, bring on winter. Check your emails for details for the next ride.

Jan 13th 2015 ride

Hey y'all - hope you've been checking out our Facebook page for Club photos and events.
It's been a challenge to find ride destinations this season.  Snow conditions are icy at lower elevations. Also, lots of logging and plowed roads leaving many riding areas off limits.
Got out yesterday for a leisurely ride on the south side of Hwy. 24.

Beautiful weather and scenic with the frost covered trees.
Those who didn't have to work yesterday :)
No new sleds this year but Syd did get a new jacket.  His old jacket got into a fight with his track and didn't stand a chance!!

Back at the Taj Mahal via our alternate route.  Love the advice received - the trail in may look like crap but just ride through it since it actually is awesome.  No stucks so good advice!!
Snow conditions are good once you break through the ice layer.
Checking out the overgrown logging roads and finding a place to turn around in the brush !
Easy riding through the trees yesterday.  No chainsaws needed.
Beautiful sunset on the drive home but we really do need more snow.

Highway 24 South - Jan 30th

Our last ride of January started out at minus 12.  It felt colder since January has been such a warm month.  It didn't take long to forget about the cold as we rode out on the logging roads and up and over our "secret access" to reach some prime riding area.

Views from the top
Marcel and Norm (the workers) always have at least one tree to cut.
Here comes the sun.
Where's my sled?
The "Taj Mahal"
Lunch in the sun - camo sunglasses to keep in theme with the tree stand.
After lunch we found all kinds of amazing places to ride.  Blue skies, wide open spaces with perfect powder to either learn, practice or perfect our carving skills.  We all had smiles on our faces!!

Perfect day :)
Wow!
The conditions were so amazing that we carved up all of that perfection.

We played in the logging slashes on the way out.
We had such a fun day that no one wanted to head back to the parking lot but... the sun was going down and the cold was returning.
Until the next ride ...
